March: Listening & Reading
During the winter hours, when the sun goes down early, I find myself being drawn to reading for hours at night or listening to a podcast while I prepare a slow cook meal for my family. Here is what I’ve been reading and listening to this month.
NON-FICTION: When Women Rules the World, By Maureen Quilligan
The largest countries in Europe at one point in time were ruled solely by women. The reader is navigated through this historical period in an easy to read, no background required, powerful landscape where women monarchs found ways to create peace and work together, even when they were supposed to be historical enemies.
HISTORICAL FICTION: The Nightingale, By Kristin Hannah
Two sisters have to navigate the onset of NAZI control and World War II in this epic novel about fightening for what you believe in and supporting those that are most vulnerable. The themes in this book felt very timely and important to how we think about helping and loving others during turbulent times.
PODCAST: Talking Pictures, Sponsored by TCM & MAX
If you love old movies or just movies in general, this is a great podcast for you. The host of TCM takes you on a joyful and calming journey with each of his guests discussing the best movies of all time and how moves are made.
These readings brought me so much joy because they gave me a renewed reminder that there is good to be felt from humanity, we just have to ensure we keep pursuing it and helping it along!
I hope the winter months have given you time to relax and unwind before the start of spring. Thank you as always for looking at, sharing and collecting my art!
Lots of Love,
Danica
