Artist Bio

Danica Factor’s artist journey began in 2018.  After moving back to the area of her childhood, memories of emotional abuse flooded back into Danica’s life, creating severe anxiety and depression.  Having to face the reality of what happened in the past as well as being a new mother, Danica began a daily art practice to process complex emotions.

Overtime, through painting, Danica learned how her environment, past experiences, and society’s cultural expectations shaped an untrue internal narrative.  In 2023, she left her corporate executive role to pursue art full-time. Danica has showcased her work at a number of art shows in California and Idaho. Her work has also been featured in Arts to Hearts Magazine and Art & Soul of the Magic Valley.

When I began my therapeutic art journey a number of years ago, I realized that society often creates untrue and harmful narratives of women past and present.  These harmful narratives become our own internal voice holding us back or leading us to believe we are worthless.

In my work, utilizing vintage papers of historical women in 1890’s-1930’s, woven throughout vibrant florals, I challenge society’s narrative of women. Each piece takes society’s narrative of women in that period and brings in into a contemporary view, showing their complexity, resilience and tenacity that is often left out of society’s portrayal of them.  It causes us to question, how should we see women in history?  How do we share a more complete historical view? And most importantly, how can we create a society that develops helpful narratives that allow next generations of women to step into their authentic selves and not live in a story that society has created for them?
